AC Milan: Fight for the Champions League

Swedish rock bands be damned, what we have here is a quest for Europe: The Final Countdown.

Europe: The Final Countdown

If you would have told me that the biggest match of the season for AC Milan would be away to Siena, I wouldn’t have taken you seriously. Yet, as we approach the final match day, that is exactly the case.

Going into the match with Roma, I was confident the Rossoneri would pick up all three points to secure a spot in the most prestigious club tournament in the world, the UEFA Champions League. But, as red cards would have it, the red and blacks played out a stalemate with a rowdy Roma side.

Now, with a big prize on offer, Milan must look at themselves in the mirror. With it all to play for, what can we expect?

  • AC Milan are 14-1-2 all time versus Siena
  • Siena’s only victory over Milan was back in 2005, a 2-1 home win
  • Siena have lost their last five Serie A Matches and will be relegated to Serie B

AC Milan look good on paper. Siena is already relegated. Their primary motive will be that of spoil-sport. But that should not be enough to stop a Milan side that is progressing nicely as a unit.

Match Prediction: Siena 1-3 AC Milan

Siena come out swinging, but in the end the red and black are too strong and should comfortably book a ticket to the Champions League.

Be sure to check out my live match commentary for AC Milan versus Siena. Action starts Sunday 2:45pm Eastern time (US) from the Milan Soccer Twitter.
