AC Milan 3 Lazio 0
Pazzini 40′, Boateng 44′ , Pazzini 61′
AC Milan 3 Lazio 0. Rossoneri go third, 11 points back of first.
AC Milan get a massive win and go one point over Lazio to take control in the push for a Champion’s League spot and hunt for a scudetto. What sounded impossible months ago is now certainly in the realm of possibility. Juventus have dropped four points in their last three matches, so Milan find themselves 11 points back with 11 to play. Milan’s point ceiling is 81, meaning the magic number for the Old Lady to quell Milan’s title dreams is 23 points. If Milan continue the form they’ve been displaying, I wouldn’t bet against them.
90′ +3 – Rizzoli blows the final whistle ending the match Milan 3 Lazio 0. Antonio Candreva’s sending off the in first half left a 10 man Lazio side too weak to stop a very fluid and aggressive Milan attack.
90′ +1 – Louis Saha’s free kick bounces low and right into Abbiati
90′ – Yellow Card – Milan – Mario Yepes
90′ – Ederson breaks a tackle and gets taken out by Yepes. The Lazio sub flies over the top of the Colombian and is appealing right away. Yepes claims he got the ball but the former Chievo man sees yellow.
86′ – El Shaarawy breaks down the left and goes square to Niang on the edge of the box who controls his shot well, but it skins the crossbar. The Frenchman is developing into a terrific player, putting in a string of performances chock full of pace and invention
85′ – De Sciglio intervenes brilliantly with a header to deny Lazio late on
83′ – Substitution – Lazio – Sergio Floccari off, Louis Saha on
81′ – Stefan Radu blasts an effort well wide. Lazio have had a chance or two that they will rue missing. Candreva dug his side a huge hole by getting sent off in the first half.
76′ – Substitution – Milan – Kevin Prince Boateng off, Robinho on. Rare Robinho sighting
75 – With fifteen minutes to go and three points in the bag, Milan can work on their concentration. An exercise in keeping the ball and seeing the match out properly.
70′ – Substitution – Lazio – Hernanes off, Ederson on
70′ – Niang breaks the back line and lets the ball roll to El Shaarawy who curls an effort wide of Marchetti’s far post. Would have bet your house on El Shaarawy hitting the back of the net. Would have lost that house
69′ – Cross from Abate is cleared but only to Boateng who slips as he tries to strike the bouncing ball
68′ – Substitution – Milan – Giampaolo Pazzini off M’Baye Niang on
65′ – Flamini bombards down the right flank and drives a low ball near post that gets swept away. Milan recover the clearance and build from the back. Long ball finds El Shaarawy, one touch for Boateng, back to El Shaarawy, crosses to Pazzini who hits it first time but wide. Courageous and scintillating football going forward from Milan!
64′ – De Sciglio’s cross finds Boateng after a deflection and the Ghanaian tries a scissor kick that bounces wide. Milan turning on the style.
63′ – Hernanes goes on a solo run and tries his luck from distance, but he drags his shot wide for a goal kick
61′ – GOAL – Milan – Giampaolo Pazzini – 2nd of the match
60′ – A horrible giveaway by Stefan Radu goes straight to Giampaolo Pazzini who takes one touch to his right and fires home a dipping effort with enough pace to beat Marchetti and rap things up for Milan. Second goal for Pazzini, third for Milan. With thirty minutes to play, it’s Milan 3 Lazio 0.
59′ – Yellow Card – Milan – Kevin Prince Boateng
59′ – Boateng is booked for some hargy bargy with a Lazio midfielder
57′ – Quick passing from Milan sends Flamini away down the right and he crosses early for El Shaarawy but it is well dealt with by Dias
55′ – Foul won by Lazio. Free kick from the left corner. Referee calls it back for funny business inside the box. Hernanes curls his effort over the wall and Abbiati pushes the strike over the bar comfortably. Corner kick finds Floccari who heads the ball harmlessly wide for a Milan goal kick
52′ – Neither side keeping possession of the ball well. Pazzini earns a foul near midfield. Ball finds its way out to Boateng who is fouled while turning toward goal. Free kick 38 yards from goal on the right wing. Taken short. Played wide left by Ambrosini and a tame effort dribbles wide from Yepes it looked like.
47′ – Giuseppe Biava is booked for a foul on Stephan El Shaarawy
46′ – Second half begins. AC Milan 2 Lazio 0.
With the second half about to begin, Lazio have a mountain to climb and the Rossoneri are looking like Everest. If you’re a supporter of the red and blacks, you should be asking for more of the same from Milan. De Sciglio and El Shaarawy looked the sharpest players on the pitch. The two wreaked havoc down Lazio’s right hand side for the entirety of the first half. Look for one of these two youngsters to find the back of the net in this game.
45′ +1 – The first half comes to an end, AC Milan 2 Lazio 0. Hollywood could not have scripted a better first half for the Rossoneri.
45′ – Boateng drives in a low cross and Biava knocks it out for a corner. El Shaarawy delivers, looking for Pazzini but Dias clears. One minute of added on time to be played
44′ – GOAL – Milan –Kevin Prince Boateng
44′ – A beautiful corner from El Shaarawy finds Pazzini who heads powerfully at Marchetti. Boateng pounces on the rebound and scores. Two rebound goals, 2-0 to Milan! A perfect first half for the Rossoneri!
43′ – Milan are in again, Abate crosses for Pazzini and Radu intervenes at the last second
40′ – GOAL – Milan – Giampaolo Pazzini
40′ – Abate pounces on a loose ball and drives into the box. The right back fires a low shot on goal and it is spilled by Marchetti. El Shaarawy his follow-up deflected but Pazzini is there to finish it off. A typical poacher’s goal for Pazzo. 1-0 to Milan!
39′ – Boateng does well to turn his man. Lazio racking up the fouls.
38′ – De Sciglio works a yard of space and fires in a cross on one hop for Pazzo, a good touch and turn, Pazzini fires and the effort is deflected over the bar. The referee does not award the corner despite the defender admitting he got the last touch, bizarre decision-making from the match official
37′ – A lapse in concentration by El Shaarawy sees a great opportunity to counter wasted
35′ – Montolivo finds Flamini with a nice square pass over distance, but the Frenchman does not control his shot well. Poor technique from the former Arsenal man
34′ – Marchetti is warned by the ref regarding his time wasting
31′ – Yellow Card – Milan – Giampaolo Pazzini
31′ – Pazzini is tussling inside the Lazio area and is helped to the ground. The ref waves off the challenge and awards Pazzini a yellow for his protests
30′ – Milan are on the cusp of scoring. They are having a lot of success down the left and should not change a thing they are doing. The finishing just needs to be a touch more clinical
28′ – De Sciglio links up with El Shaarawy again. Il Faraone works hard to reach the byline and toe-pokes a cross with the outside of his foot, well dealt with by Lazio
26′ – De Sciglio curls in a magnificent pass that somehow misses two Milan runners and nearly tucks itself in the far corner. The Milan youth product is having an absolute belter so far.
24′ – De Sciglio and El Shaarawy look terrific working together down Milan’s left flank and win another corner. It’s taken short and eventually worked to Montolivo, who blazes over the bar from 25 yards. The Italy international really needs to work the goalkeeper more often when striking from outside the box
21′ – Returning to the red card, I think the ref might have gotten this one wrong. There did appear to be other defenders closing in, but it was certainly a clear goal scoring opportunity. El Shaarawy was barreling into the box, and I think this is a time where the referee made a compromise with himself, sending off the player but awarding no spot kick
20′ – Milan earn a corner through El Shaarawy. The youngster picks out Boateng who heads over from 12 yards.
17′ – From where the ref is standing, it appears that he has not awarded a penalty. It is a direct free kick just outside the box. The tackle was deemed to deny a clear goal scoring opportunity from the last man. The resulting free kick is laid off for Montolivo who rolls his effort wide, poor effort. If Montolivo hits the target, he scores.
16′ – Red Card – Lazio – Antonio Candreva
15′ – De Sciglio with another great steal and he sets El Shaarawy away. The youngster jinks inside and is brought down from behind by Candreva. Looks like a sure-fire penalty. Candreva has been shown a red card for the tackle!
11′ – Pazzini shields the ball tremendously well in the corner and fires in a perfect ball for El Shaarawy who heads over from 6 yards. The youngster might have been deceived by the pace of the cross and could not get over the top of the driven ball from Pazzo.
9′ – De Sciglio does very well to pick Candreva’s pocket as Milan look to launch another attack
7′ – De Sciglio is working his socks off, offering great support down the left hand channel. He wins his side a throw deep in Lazio territory
5′ – Candreva does well to shake off his man inside the box, cuts it back to Floccari who fires tamely and right at Abbiati, big let off for Milan. The game is wide open and both teams are playing at a fast pace
4′ – El Shaarawy gets in again but the keeper causes the young Italian to spill the ball, follow-up attempt by Pazzini is cleared off the line. A great start from il Faraone.
3′ – A great touch and hard work see Stephan El Shaarawy get in 1 on 1 but his attempt to nutmeg the keeper from a tight angle fails.
2′ – Lazio start off by attempting several long balls aimed at Milan’s left back for the day, De Sciglio.
And we’re off!
