Highlights: Samp 0-0 Milan

Sampdoria  0-0  AC Milan

The match ends nil nil. Milan will regret not taking their chances better in a very winnable contest. Sampdoria started brightly, forcing several saves from Abbiati. The match was choppy and lacking a bit of quality in the final third. No team could claim they deserved all three points as neither did enough to edge the battle. That’s all from Genoa. Signing off at Milan Soccer, I’m Giancarlo Ciolino, thanks for stopping by.

Final whistle blows.

90+3′ Montolivo wins and takes a free kick, finds De Sciglio who lays off to Mexes who crosses first time but several Milan players are caught offside.

90+2′ Niang find Boateng who blasts over on the half volley. Woeful finishing from Prince

There will be 3 minutes of added time

90′ Constant heads out for a corner to prevent the cross from reaching Tissone. Corner comes to nothing, Milan clear

89′ Niang wins his side another corner. Robinho delivers but can’t find a teammate. Niang wins it back and finds Robinho whose cross is overhit and runs out of play for a goal kick

87′ Bojan off Nocerino on

84′ Niang shield off Tissone well and wins Milan a free kick

81′ Flamini takes on his man and fires low, shot deflects for a corner. The match is picking up finally, with Milan in the ascendency. Mexes wins the header and hits the target but it’s straight at Romero

80′ Another corner for Milan, Robinho takes. Gets past the first man somehow but the bouncing ball is cleared. Milan work the ball to the other side for a cross but it is cut out by Romero

79′ Corner ricochets and almost produces a chance in a scramble, Samp clear

79′ Andrea Poli off Fernando Tissone on

78′ Niang has won his side another corner. the youngster looking dangerous with the ball at his feet.

77′ Robinho shakes his marker and crosses for Niang but it bounces safely to Romero

73′ Flamini does well to get to the byline, appearing to win a corner, not given. Niang commits a foul on the goal kick which followed

71′ <SUBMarcelo Estigarribia off Roberto Soriano on

67′ Stephan El Shaarawy off Robinho on

65‘ Twenty five minutes to play, who can find a winner? Robinho begins warming up, hoping to be the answer

63′ Icardi is played through and slides his effort just wide of the far post. Both teams should have scored with their last chance

62′ Niang beats his man and picks out Bojan with a low cross who turns his man inside the 6 yard box, he shoots wide and Boateng follows up on the slide directs it goalwords and Romero gets a hand to it to keep it out. Most dangerous moment of the match so far, great play Niang and Bojan

58′ De Sciglio nutmegs his marker with his first touch and drives in a low cross, which is dealt with by the defense. Better play from the right back

56′ Niang turns well to make space for a left footed shot but the effort is nowhere near the target. He does look the most likely to create at the moment however

54′  Another wasted cross from the visitors, De Sciglio overhits and misses everyone. Samp get down the field quickly and work a low shot, saved by the Milan keeper

53′ De Sciglio is on the receiving end of a late tackle now. Zapata forced to play the ball out. The youngster will continue and Samp sportingly play the ball back to Abbiati

52′ De Silvestri comes in high on Flamini and isn’t even shown a card. Baffling decision. Flamini remains cool, no complaints from the Frenchman

50′ Niang is growing in stature in the second half, winning his side another corner. El Shaarawy hits the first man again! Milan’s crossing has been abysmal today

46′ Corner is headed over by Gastaldello, who’s certainly getting his chances

46′ Niang nutmegs his man on the edge of the box, strikes the ball with venom and forces a good save from Romero. Corner to Milan. El Shaarawy doesn’t beat the first man and Samp break. Milan defend the counter well and look to launch one themselves but El Shaarawy loses the ball. Samp come back, shot is fired deflects off Boateng and nearly wrong foots Abbiati for a goal. Out for a corner

The players emerge from the tunnel as the second half is set to get going momentarily

A win here could prove vital for Milan as Juventus, Fiorentina, and Roma have all dropped points

Scores from around Serie A: Lazio 2-0 Atalanta (Final)     Udinese 3-1 Fiorentina (Final)   Cagliari 2-1 Genoa (Final)    Parma 1-1 Juventus (Final)    Napoli 3-0 Palermo (Final)      Catania 1-0 Roma (Final)    Bologna 4-0 Chievo (Final)    Inter 2-0 Pescara (Final)    Torino 3-2 Siena (Final)

45’+1 Eder runs at Zapata and wins a corner; it‘s flicked on but Milan deal with it. Corner from the right flag this time… Headed over by Eder and the clubs head into the break goalless. Lackluster half from both teams really. The misters have plenty to talk over with their squads.

43′ Bojan breaks the length of the field himself but again fires over. Milan need to put the hours in at shooting practice, too many players leaning back and hitting row Z

42′ Free kick to Samp near the right sideline 40m from goal. Estigarribia delivers well enough but Niang heads clear

41′ Icardi’s cross deflects off Constant for a corner. Palombo plays it short and it comes to nothing. Milan clear for a throw in but are struggling to clear their lines

40′ Good spell of possession for Milan. They kept the ball for two minutes, working it all over the pitch, before Montolivo fires a driven effort over from 24m. Much better from the Rossoneri

37′ Niang has been floating out right and wins a corner. I’d prefer to see the young striker play more centrally with Bojan and El S running off of him

36′ Mexes defends well to block the cross from De Silvestri and win a goal kick

33′ Montolivo tries his luck from range and Romero bobbles but collects

29′ Poli wins a corner off De Sciglio. Played short and whipped in first time, headed on over everyone and out for a throw. Milan break with Bojan, finds Niang, cross blocked and Milan reset

28′ Bojan dribbles past one marker and fires over from 23m

25′  Milan captain Ambrosini has taken himself off and has been replaced by Mathieu Flamini. Hope it isn’t a long term injury for Ambro

22′ Quarter of the match played and Milan have their first corner. El Shaarawy plays it short to De Scigilio whose cross is weak but it deflects for a throw in. Constant delivers a cross but again, it’s right at Romero

21′ Constant shields out the cross from Poli for a corner kick. Palombo delivers a terrific ball but Gastalldello heads over from 5m. The Sampdoria captain should have put the home side up

18′ Andrea Costa whips in a dangerous looking ball but it misses his target

15′ Both teams need to keep the ball better as the midfielders continue to be careless

12′ Andrea Poli fires and hits the target with power, Abbiati uses both hands to repel the ball. Milan break… but the final cross is a poor one and Romero collects

11′ Samp have a free kick from a dangerous area, 22m and central

10′ Bojan and Niang are interchanging positions well but the killer ball isn’t there yet

8′ Andrea Poli curls a lovely effort from 24m on the edge of the arc and Abbiati tips over the bar, corner kick to Samp

6′ De Silvestri fires a low drive from 25m and forces a clean save from Abbiati

5′ Niang finds a bit of space near the edge of the box but fires a glancing shot wide

3′ Neither team doing much with possession so far as the game starts slowly

And we’re underway from the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa!
