Raul Albiol has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu this summer.
The 26 year old Spanish international only featured 18 times in all competitions for Real Madrid this season, of which only 10 were in La Liga. Albiol featured in two Copa Del Rey matches and was sent off in one of them. He has fallen out of favor and will seek a club where he can get more minutes regularly.
He is a defensive jolly, and an adequate one at that. I would rate him higher than every defender on our books right now bar Thiago Silva and Alessandro Nesta. At 26, Albiol is looking to establish himself at a club and will be hungry to perform. He is Valencia born and bred, Madrid class, a Spanish international who was on the World Cup winning squad. He is 187cm tall (almost 6’2″), and weighs roughly 163 pounds. The transfer fee to Madrid was undisclosed, but it was rumored to be in the region of 15 million euros. If Galliani could work his magic and get him for under 10, it would be great business and a good signing.
